I am a 41-year-old journalist living and working in Toronto, Canada, with more than 17 years of experience writing and editing both in print and online.
Recently, I excelled as a Digital Content Specialist with Key Media. During my three years with Key Media, I used my expertise in SEO writing to generate more than 614,000 views across five mortgage and investment websites in 2023 alone. That figure made me the second most viewed author on a media site that has generated 4.9 million views. As a content specialist, I also applied my knowledge in news gathering. This included researching, interviewing, and writing real estate and investment articles, as well as producing business profiles for paying clients and e-newsletters for industry events.
Since moving to Toronto in 2012, I have worked as an Associate Managing Editor (Front Pages) for MetroNews/StarMetro and a Digital Editor and Social Media Journalist at Global News.
While I have successfully adapted to the changing demands of the media industry, I began my career in print media, first as a Sports Reporter/Photographer in Banff, Alberta. From there, I worked as a Reporter/Photographer in southern Labrador and northern Newfoundland and as a Sports Editor for the Whitehorse Daily Star in the Yukon.
Throughout my nearly 20-year career in media, I have managed teams, mentored writers, and earned promotions from two different employers. Coming from Labrador, I have worked my way up from community journalism in the North to fast-paced newsrooms in downtown Toronto.
